Karachi Whites bowler finishes with figures of 4-23 on opening day

KARACHI: Tabish Khan took four wickets to help Karachi Whites restrict SSGC to a low total on the opening day of the first round of the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy Super Eight at the UBL Sports Complex in Karachi yesterday.

Asked to bat first, SSGC were not able to hold their ground and kept losing wickets at regular intervals as Tabish ran riot. Only Zain Abbas (86), Adil Amin (51) and Asif Zakir (29) withstood the Karachi Whites’ attack with no other batsman making more than 14 runs as SSGC folded for 240.

At the end of play, Karachi Whites were on 37, having lost five wickets with Azam Hussain (15) and Muhammad Asad (naught) on the crease. SSGC’s Ziaul Haq claimed two wickets while Amir Yamin, Muhammad Irfan and Adil Amin dismissed one batsman apiece.

Super Eight schedule announced

Meanwhile in the match at SBP Cricket Stadium, Usman Sallahuddin scored an unbeaten knock of 83 runs to help NBP reach 212-6 against HBL.

He was supported by Hamza Paracha (39) and Naveed Sarwar (31), while Muhammad Asad was the new batsman in.

HBL’s Abdul Rehman was able to take two wickets.

At the Arbab Niaz Stadium in Hyderabad, KRL, who were asked to bat first, were on 251-8 against UBL as Sardar Hassan (53) and Zulfiqar Jan (51) registered half-centuries. Yasir Ali, on 45, was on the crease at the end of play.

For UBL, Mir Hamza claimed three wickets.
