NEPRA allows 33 paisa per unit increase

Power distribution companies had sought an increase of 39 paisa per unit as part of fuel adjustment for January.

ISLAMABAD:
The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) has allowed power distribution companies to raise the electricity tariff by 33 paisa per unit, under the monthly fuel price adjustment formula.

According to sources, a request forwarded to Nepra, through the Central Power Purchasing Agency, by power distribution companies was heard at Nepra headquarters on Thursday.

At the hearing, Nepra officials examined figures provided by distribution companies, who had sought an increase of 39 paisa per unit as part of fuel adjustment for January.

However, Nepra officials allowed a 33 paisa per unit increase in the tariff, which will come into effect after the issuance of a notification, for which a copy of the decision has been forwarded to the government.
