Over 80 families displaced by cross-LoC shelling

MUZAFFARABAD: Incessant Indian shelling from across the Line of Control (LoC) in AJK’s Bhimber district has forced more than 80 traumatised families to leave their homes in forward areas and take shelter in safe places.



According to details provided by the Bhimber administration, hundreds of people living in Khairoowal, Munawwar, Balewal, Iftikharabad, Patni and Gakhari villages of Barnala tehsil in Chammb Sector have been displaced by unprovoked Indian shelling that has been repeatedly targeting the civilian population in these areas.

The Bhimber administration said the majority of those leaving their villages in forward areas have taken refuge in homes of their relatives and friends.



“Some 180 members of 30 displaced families have been lodged in 25 tents in Moyel Barnala where they would be provided food and health facilities free of charge,” said a district administration official.
