They searched the vehicle and detained his cousin while snatching $100 from his aunt. Following this episode, Nasir Shehzad approached Secretariat police station and a case was registered against constables Mudassir and Wadood.
Senior Superintendent of Police (Operations) Sajid Kiani directed to register case against the two police officials for allegedly taking money from his aunt and confining his nephew.
Subsequently, the two were arrested and both of them were presented in local court with plea to grant physical remand.
The relevant court has granted their three days physical remand and further investigation is underway.
The SSP said those policemen bringing a bad name to the department would not be tolerated and they would have to face disciplinary action in case of any corrupt practices. Islamabad Police, he said, is following an accountability system to monitor performance of the police officials and those indulged in dereliction of duty, negligence, poor investigation, absence and involvement in corruption would be purged from the force.
The SSP said that accountability system helps in improving the performance of any department and working of the staff can be easily judged through it. He said that such accountability system would continue in future and those performing well would be also encouraged.
