KARACHI: Pakistan, ranked second in the ICC Test rankings, will close the gap on top-ranked India (115 points) if they whitewash New Zealand 2-0.

Pakistan, who have 109 points, will go to 111 if they win both matches, while a 1-0 series win gives them just a single point and takes them to 110.

However, any other result in the series will be severely detrimental to Misbahul Haq side’s ambitions of regaining the top spot as Pakistan will fall to 102 points if they lose 2-0 and even a 1-0 loss means they lose five points.

A 1-1 or 0-0 draw will also see Pakistan slump to 107 points.

If Pakistan win the series 2-0 and India lose their ongoing series to England, then Pakistan will regain their top spot, unless England win 4-0 in which case England will go top ahead of Pakistan.
