Dengue fighting: Over 1,450 sites sealed this year

The district officer said he was personally monitoring dengue breeding points in the city

RAWALPINDI: Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) District Officer Azhar Iqbal said on Tuesday that the agency inspected 25,545 sites and sealed 1,452 premises in different areas of city during anti-dengue drives in the last year.

During inspections of dengue breeding sites, squads issued notices to 107 owners, registered FIRs against 23 violators, confiscated 316 tyres, and imposed fines totaling Rs745,120  where standard operating procedures for disease control were not being followed.

The district officer said he was personally monitoring dengue breeding points in the city and the whole process was being checked through the Punjab Government Dengue Online Android System. He said the squads were visiting various areas and updating dengue progress images and details using the software.
