SC calls for impartial policy in providing gas connections

The chief justice says common people face extreme hardship in order to get a connection.

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court (SC) on Thursday banned giving gas connections through discretionary power.

The court gave these orders during the hearing of a suo motu notice regarding problems in attaining gas connections.

Chief Justice (CJ) Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry directed secretary petroleum to form an impartial policy for the gas connections.

He observed that the policy of providing gas connections seemed biased which is against Article 25 of the Constitution.

The chief justice said common people face extreme hardship in order to get a connection.
