Here's what Abhishek Bachchan thinks of Aishwariya Rai's role in Ae Dil Hai Mushkil
The absence of Aishwarya's family at the movie’s multiple screenings further incited rumours about her in-laws not being happy about her "intimate scenes" with Ranbir.
However, Amitabh Bachan put these rumours to rest at the 22nd Kolkata International Film Festival. The legendary actor threw some light on the shifting portrayal of female characters in the movies.
Did Jaya Bachchan take a subtle dig at Aishwarya for her intimate scenes in ADHM?
In the said speech, Amitabh drew instances from Indian cinema, such as relating Rosy played by Waheeda Rehman in Guide and said, "Certainly Rosie was one of the rare characters in Indian cinema. She stood for what she believed in and made her own choices in relationships, going against all nons of what was expected from Indian women at that time."
Amitabh ouched upon the topic of the changes shown in women and their relationship with their home, their position in a relationship, sexual exploitation, women in education and in politics.
Aishwarya opens up on intimate scenes with Ranbir Kapoor in ADHM
He said, "These changing images are not sudden. They emerged slowly and steadily over the decades. Today women are on the threshold of a huge transition in converting several structural role reversals within families, marriages and the work place. Women’s largely subservient stations are breaking up and new roles placement such as achievement, independence, equality are gradually seeing the light of day."
According to latest reports by Miss Malini, Big B also addressed Aishwarya's character 'Saba' in Ae Dil Hai Muskil, saying it turned the tables on men. We guess this puts the rumours to rest.
