KARACHI: The first official poster for the upcoming Ainy Jaffri and Osman Khalid Butt-starrer Balu Mahi has finally seen the light of day. The film – which will also mark the feature film debut of supermodel Sadaf Kanwal – is slated to release on February 10 next year.

Balu Mahi will see Jaffri and Butt star as an on-screen couple for the first time. The poster, which coincidentally (or not) looks similar to that of 2015’s epic Bollywood saga Bajirao Mastani, shows the couple surrounded by warm colours of candles and oil lamps and a similar vault in the background.

Directed by veteran TV serial director Haissam Hussain, the romantic comedy attempts to portray Lahore and northern Pakistan on a larger-than-life canvas and celebrate romance in a unique manner. Balu Mahi is a travel film with elements of romance and comedy, making it perfect for the Valentine’s Day week.

Jaffri, is back in the limelight after a two-year hiatus. She last lent vocals for lead character Jiya in animated TV serial Burka Avenger back in 2013 and made her film debut with a cameo in Main Hoon Shahid Afridi. Butt, on the other hand, has amassed a large fan base after his hugely popular TV shows Aunn Zara (2013) and Diyar-e-Dil (2015).

Produced by Sadia Jabbar, Balu Mahi has been written by Saad Azhar and the music is composed by established music director Sahir Ali Bagga.
