The 17-year-old finished as runner-up to Uzbekistan’s Ergashev Adkhamjon after lifting a total of 255kg and piping India’s Gulam Navi to the second place.
He was also awarded a separate silver medal in the 177kg snatch competition as well as a bronze in the 138kg clean and jerk event.
Furthermore, the medal-laden Talib also bagged a bronze in juniors’ championship after losing to an Irani weightlifter in the final.
“It was a very good performance from Talha and we expected him to be on the podium,” Pakistan Weightlifting Federation (PWF) Vice-President Rashed Malik told The Express Tribune.
He further added, “He attempted to lift 145kg in the youth clean and jerk competition but failed. However, we are very proud of him.”
