Treacherous curves: 2 killed as car falls into Neelum River

Local people rushed to the accident site and started a rescue operation

MUZAFFARABAD: At least two people were killed in a road accident in Neelum Valley of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) on Friday. According to reports, a car travelling from Athmuqam to Muzaffarabad veered off the road and fell hundreds of feet below into the freezing waters of the Neelum River near Dunger area. Police, quoting eyewitnesses, said the driver had lost control of the vehicle while negotiating a sharp turn. Local people rushed to the accident site and started a rescue operation on self-help basis. They pulled the  driver and a passenger out of the wreckage and rushed them to District Headquarters Hospital Authmuqam.
