Petroleum products: Govt given last chance to submit reply

The court granted the last opportunity to submit a reply by December 1

LAHORE:
The Lahore High Court gave a last opportunity to the federal treasury minister on Wednesday to submit a reply in a writ petition filed against the collection of 17% extra sales tax on petroleum products. LHC Justice Ayesha A Malik heard the petition filed by PTI leader Mian Mehmoodur Rasheed. The counsel for the petitioner submitted the court that the government could not impose sales tax without the approval of the parliament, imploring that the decision was illegal. The counsel for the federal government sought time for submitting a reply before the court. Thus, the court granted the last opportunity to submit a reply by December 1.
