Creating awareness: SKBZ organises Smog Day

Special care should be taken of children because smog may lead to asthma, eye and throat irritation

KARACHI: Concerns of the citizens were expressed at an event, ‘Smog Day’, on toxic after-impact to create awareness of smog, its hazardous effects and its precautionary measures in students was organized at Defence Authority Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zaid College (DA SKBZ) auditorium on Monday.

DHA administrator Brig Shahid Hassan Ali’s wife was the chief guest at the event.

The medics stressed on precautionary measures to be taken in smoggy weather, suggesting the citizens to avoid roaming outdoors without wearing optics and masks, drink excessive (2 to 2.5 liters) water daily, close windows of houses tightly, take cool showers, wash eyes repeatedly, use moist towels and avoid running and exercising in open air.

They said special care should be taken of children because smog may lead to asthma, eye and throat irritation.

Mrs Shahid Hassan Ali appreciated the initiative and presentation made by the students to highlight the problem of smog in an effective and imaginative manner.
