Trip to Beijing: NAB chief to sign MoU with China

ISLAMABAD: National Accountability Bureau (NAB) chief Qamar Zaman Chaudhry on Monday left for China where he is expected to sign an agreement with Chinese authorities.

According to a statement, Chaudhry left on an official visit for Beijing on the invitation of Huang Shuxian, China’s minister of supervision and inspection.

During the visit, Pakistan and China will sign a memorandum of understanding (MOU) for cooperation on matters related to eliminating corruption.

The agreement has gained significance in the backdrop of increasing economic and trade cooperation between Pakistan and China and a resolve by both the governments to work in a fair, impartial and corruption-free environment.

Chaudhry, on the eve of his visit, said Pakistan attaches great importance to its relations with China since the latter it is a time tested friend. “The longstanding ties between the two countries have been mutually supportive. A close identity of views and mutual interests remain the hallmark of bilateral ties,” the statement read.

The NAB chairman hoped that cooperation between the two countries in anti-corruption would be further enhanced.
