Reham Khan on casting Armeena for ‘Janaan’
Film co-producer thought hard before finalising cast for debut film
KARACHI:
TV host Reham Khan was the co-producer of the romantic-comedy, Janaan that released in September this year. Based on the life of a Pakhtun family, the film starred actor Armeena Rana Khan in the lead role. Fast forward two months, and Reham finally spilled the beans on why she felt Armeena was a suitable choice for the film.
“I picked Armeena because of her accent and intonation. The character was written with Armeena in mind. Her petite frame and her delicate voice was what I was looking for to describe how a woman can be strong despite being very feminine. My story required an overseas accent but an actor who could speak Urdu too,” Reham said in a statement.
She shared she is open to working with new talent, and bringing out the best her country has to offer. On working with the film cast, she stated, “It gives me even more courage to stand tall and not allow any negativity to be a hindrance in way of what I want to achieve.”
Directed by Azfar Jafri and written by Osman Khalid Butt, Janaan was co-produced by Hareem Farooq, Reham, Munir Hussain and Imran Raza Kazmi. The film stars Armeena, Bilal Ashraf, and Ali Rehman Khan in pivotal roles.
Besides this, Armeena just recently signed another British feature length film, The Real Target. She will be seen playing the role of Agent Wilson, a double agent sent from Canada to London on a deadly mission. She will be working alongside several international actors including David Cheung and Yolanda Lynes, and will be trained in Kung Fu by Master Wong for this exciting project. The movie is being directed by David Cheung, and produced by Soo Cole and Jing Lang, and will be releasing in 2017.
