Rail track rigged: Attack on Jaffar Express thwarted

FC spokesperson says militants had planted an IED on the railway track near Aab-e-Gum area between Mach and Sibi

QUETTA: Timely intervention by law enforcement agencies saved the Quetta-bound Jaffar Express train from a bomb attack.

An FC spokesman, on Friday, said that militants had planted an IED on the railway track near Aab-e-Gum area between Mach and Sibi to target the Jaffar Express coming from Rawalpindi to Quetta.

Official sources told The Express Tribune that the FC soldiers and Railway police received an intelligence report that militants have planted a bomb on the railway track.

All Quetta bound passenger trains were stopped at different railway stations after the remote control blast at the railway track that was partially damaged following the blast. The train service was restored after the damaged railway track was repaired.
