The Customs Department on Friday arrested three alleged smugglers and seized contraband worth millions of rupees during checking at Jhelum Motorway Toll Plaza. According to a statement, the anti-smuggling cell of the Customs conducted a raid at Jhelum Motorway Toll Plaza on Friday morning and seized a truck containing foreign items. The goods were brought into the country without payment of due customs duty. The officials recovered five tonnes of Indian cloth, 39 cartons of Chinese crockery, 200 bags, four tonnes of Korean chemicals worth over Rs101 million, the statement said. The Customs officials detained the truck crew and shifted the confiscated consignment to its bonded warehouse.
