MULTAN: Over 200 traders protested against overbilling of Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) and unscheduled loadshedding at Gardezi Market, Gulgasht on Thursday.

Speaking on the occasion, the Anjuman-i-Tajiraan Multan President Arif Faseeullah said that continuous power outages had inflicted a loss of millions of rupees on the businesses of traders. Moreover, overbilling of Wapda has also forced many small traders to shut down their businesses.

The protest was organised with the help of Anjuman-i-Tajiraan Multan.

He said that traders have lodged hundreds of complaints in Wapda but they never paid heed to the issue. The load shedding had brought business activities to a complete halt, he said, adding that the traders were facing various problems due to overbilling and tax surcharges.

The protesters demanded the government to take appropriate measures to solve the problems of loadshedding. They also warned that if overbilling was not stopped they would protest out side the Wapda office soon.
