ISLAMABAD: Mayor of Islamabad and Chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA) Sheikh Anser Aziz has said that sports grounds in the capital would be upgraded and more grounds will be developed in other sectors to meet the requirement of the community.

Addressing a meeting at CDA headquarters on Thursday, Aziz said Islamabad Metropolitan Corporation (IMC) was taking steps to provide quality recreational and sports facilities to residents of
the capital.

He was briefed that there are 50 developed grounds in the city for different sports including 16 for cricket, 12 for football, four tennis courts and 15 multipurpose grounds.

The meeting reviewed the sports and recreational facilities being provided to the residents by Sports and Culture Directorate of IMC.

He said that a comprehensive strategy had been evolved to establish more grounds in sectors where grounds were fewer in proportionate to the people living there.
