Land mafia active in Manjhar Goth

Letter November 03, 2016
The land mafia has been selling the residential areas for commercial purposes

KARACHI: Manjhar Goth is a tiny fishermen’s locality, located in the West Karachi District, about 20 kilometres away from Hawkes Bay Beach. The land mafia has been active in the village. Fishermen have no space to establish their homes because of the space that has been grabbed by the land mafia. Fishermen are forced to establish their homes on hillsides. The land mafia has been selling the residential areas for commercial purposes. Fish processing units have illegally been established in the residential area of the village creating congestion. Several private huts have been built along the shore of the village. We urge the government to take action against the land mafia and remove all encroachments in the residential area of the village.
