COAS lauds army team’s ‘commendable’ performance in international military exercise

Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif has appreciated the “commendable performance” of a Pakistan Army team, which secured a gold medal at an annual international military patrolling exercise held in the United Kingdom last month.

The army chief met members of the winning team on Thursday, the military’s media wing, Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement on Thursday.

A total of 122 teams participated in ‘Exercise Cambrian Patrol’, one of the toughest patrolling tests for military personnel, the communiqué added.

“The COAS appreciated the team for their commendable performance in winning the medal, and keeping Pakistan's flag high.”

Pakistan Army wins gold in Exercise Cambrian Patrol in UK

This was the third time Pakistan Army won gold in the Cambrian Patrol. The military's team had last year shared the first place award with the Royal New Zealand Army, beating 140 teams from armies across the globe. The Indian army secured second place, winning a silver medal.

The international military patrolling exercise marks an important event in British army’s training calendar. Run by the 160th Infantry Brigade and Headquarters Wales, over a 140 countries compete in the exercise, which puts the soldiers’ strength to the test.
