MULTAN: A special task force has been constituted to crack down on quacks and those illegally selling acid and Liquified Petroleum Gas (LPG) cylinders in Multan. The action is being taken on the directions of Multan District Coordination Officer Nadir Chattha.

While presiding over a meeting on Wednesday he said Section 144 has also been imposed in the city. He directed the officers to take strict action against those people who have installed illegal cylinders of LPG in their vehicles.

Nadir said illegal sale of LPG would not be allowed at any cost, enemies of humanity are playing with the lives of people. Therefore, no concession would be given to them, he added. He directed the task force to set up check-posts in different areas of the city and check each and every vehicle. He ordered the task force team to arrest the drivers who are using illegal LPG cylinders in vehicles.

“The shops that are selling acid should be sealed and a fine should also be imposed on them,” he ordered.

The officials of the health department should deal with the quacks with iron hands, he said, adding these illiterate people are playing with the health of innocent people. He asked the drug inspectors to end this heinous business with the cooperation of the health commission.

The special Task Force will be led by District Officer Coordination Zahid Ikram.
