RAWALPINDI: The Rawalpindi Cantonment Board (RCB) has disconnected more than 256 illegal water connections.

The action follows cantonment board’s on-going campaign to check and disconnect illegal water connections in its areas. According to the RCB spokesman, the water connections have been disconnected in Allama Iqbal Colony, Naseerabad, Kamalabad, Gawalmandi, Tench Bhatta, Saddar, Westridge and other areas.

The residents have been warned that stern action would be taken with imposition of heavy fines against people using unfair means to extract water from supply mains. RCB has formed special teams to check illegal connections, he added. Moreover, RCB anti-encroachment team confiscated four truckload goods from Saddar, Bank Road, Kashmir Road, Masrial Road, Tench Bhatta and Chungi No 22, the spokesman said.
