Security of journalists: CPNE delegation meets Lt Gen Mukhtar
CPNE resolved that it would defend the supremacy of the Constitution
KARACHI:
A delegation of Council of Pakistan Newspaper Editors (CPNE), led by Secretary General Aijaz ul Haq, met with Corps Commander Karachi Lieutenant General Naveed Mukhtar on Tuesday. According to a press release, during the meeting CPNE discussed the internal situation of Karachi besides safety and security of journalists with the corps commander. CPNE resolved that it would defend the supremacy of the Constitution and was determined that all newspapers, magazines will never compromise on national security. The delegation appreciated the Army’s success and sacrifices in the Operation Zarb-e-Azb and also praised the corps commander for the restoration of peace, especially in Karachi. Lt Gen Mukhtar welcomed the CPNE delegation and assured full support to the editors to address the problems and security challenges being faced by journalists. The delegation comprised of Aijaz ul Haq, Aamir Mahmood, Wamiq A. Zuberi, Dr. Jabbar Khattak, Ikram Sehgal, Kazi Asad Abid, Ilyas Shakir, Ghulam Nabi Chandio, Dr. Waqar Yousuf Azeemi, Saeed Khawar, Rafeeq Afghan and Abdul Khalique Ali.
