ABBOTTABAD: In a typical move to put pressure on the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa government’s ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, opposition parties in the provincial assembly are planning on moving a motion of no trust against Chief Minister Pervez Khattak.

This was disclosed by Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s (PML-N) K-P Assembly parliamentary leader Sardar Aurangzeb Nalotha as he spoke to reporters in Abbottabad on Tuesday.

“We have garnered the support of the required number of MPAs to oust the incumbent CM,” he said. The PML-N leader added that the no-confidence motion against Khattak was likely to be presented in the K-P assembly in the next few days.

He claimed that the opposition had obtained the signatures of several parliamentarians, including 15 from the ruling PTI and some coalition partners of the ruling party.  “We will be successful in throwing Khattak out of office,” he vowed.

Nalotha said the K-P CM’s “undemocratic and irresponsible attitude” over the last two days proved he did not deserve to continue as the chief executive of the province.

The parliamentary leader also hinted at filing a case against Khattak with treason charges for his ‘anti-state activities’ of marching on the federal capital and attacking a symbol of the federation with armed men. He said such actions could not be tolerated.

To a question, Nalotha denied that the federal government had any plans of imposing Governor Rule in K-P.

Commenting on the situation, another PML-N MPA from Abbottabad, Amina Sardar, confirmed that opposition parties obtained the signatures of all members in favour of ousting the CM.

She said the CM led an “unconstitutional” Ehtesab march of the PTI and it inflicted a loss of billions on the national exchequer, besides wasting precious times of students, businessmen and workers.

“The ‘jiala-pan’ of Khattak exposed the real face of PTI, which is opposed to the central government’s intentions of putting the country on the road to real progress,” she said.

Amina reiterated her parliamentary leader’s claim of securing enough support from the 124-seat house to oust Khattak.
