PIA looks to increase fleet size to 60

KARACHI: Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) is looking to increase its fleet size to 60 aircraft by 2020 and start flights to Barcelona, Leipzig, Salalah and Bangkok, chief executive officer of the national carrier said.

PIA to lease 8 planes to upgrade fleet

“PIA is targeting to have a fleet of 60 aircraft by 2020,” said Bernd Hildenbrand, the CEO, while speaking at a weekly meeting in Rotari Club Karachi.  “In addition to increasing domestic flights, PIA is planning to increase its flights to Paris, New York, Kuala Lumpur, Jeddah, Beijing and Toronto while starting new flights to Barcelona, Leipzig, Salalah and Bangkok,” he said, quoted in a PIA statement.

Pakistan’s new air carrier to start flying by year-end

The statement, however, did not mention timelines for the increase in number of flights and introduction of flights on new international routes.
