2nd Test: Bangladesh claim first-ever Test victory over England

Hosts beat visitors by 108 runs to level two-match series 1-1

Bangladesh made history on Sunday as they beat England by 108 runs in the second Test in Mirpur to draw the two-match series 1-1.

This was Bangladesh's eighth overall victory in Tests after they received the status in 2000. It was a historic moment for the hosts as they beat England for the first time in the five-day format.

After opting to bat first in the Test, Bangladesh scored 220 runs courtesy left-hand opener Tamim Iqbal's 104 off 147 runs.

Off-spinner Moeen Ali bagged a five-for England.

In their reply, England could only muster up a 23-run lead when they came out to bat courtesy scores of 46 and 44 from their number nine and ten batsmen, Chris Woakes and Adil Rashid, respectively.

Bangladesh were then inspired by Imrul Kayes' 78 off 120 balls which helped Bangladesh set a 273-run target for the visitors.

England, on day three, fell flat on their faces after an opening stand of 100 runs between Alastair Cook and Ben Duckett.

Their four players did not contribute a single run to the score while a three-wicket 43rd over from Shakibal Hasan also made the difference for the hosts.
