KARACHI: The first-ever Hum Style Awards ended on a successful note and now we're wondering why Nida Butt hadn’t taken the charge before.

From the entertainment industry’s A-listers to fashion and sports icons, the red carpet was graced by some of the biggest names followed by well-choreographed sizzling performances, one after another.

What topped it all is that Hum TV rose above the backlash it received for featuring Bollywood songs at the fourth Hum Awards. The event showcased the best of the best of Pakistan’s music industry.

The host of the evening Ahmed Ali kicked off the star-studded event with an amazing act, the script of which could have been better. But his impeccable performance made up for all the shortcomings.

Other hosts of the evening Adnan Malik, Ayesha Omar and Aamina Sheikh did a commendable job as well, but Ahmed aced his game.

Here’s a lay down of the 13 best moments from the grand night.

1. Umair Jaswal and Meesha Shafi setting the stage on fire

The opening and closing acts are the primary tools to gauge the success of any show and needless to say we were not disappointed. The power duo Umair and Meesha shook a leg together for the first time ever but their flawless act didn’t hint toward a first-ever performance.

2. Saba Qamar’s comeback

To rise after the fall is when you actually win and that’s what Saba did after her unfortunate wardrobe malfunction. The Lahore Se Aagay actor continued to slay with her confidence during her energetic performance with Zahid Ahmed.

5. Rahat Fateh Ali Khan working his magic

Be it live or otherwise, the presence of Rahat on the stage is magical but a mere lip sync performance didn't do justice to the night. He performed his famous OSTs of Sadqay Tumhare, Bin Roye and others.

However, later he lit up his performance and made the audience sway to the tunes of Coke Studio's rendition of Afreen Afreen.

11. Farhan Saeed's sportsman spirit

It was really a low blow when the hosts Adnan and Aamina took a dig at Farhan during one of their segments titled 'Most Stylish Celebrity in an Unlikely Situation'. They wondered how would the singer cum actor look while "getting a job without Urwa Hocane." But Farhan took it in good spirits and laughed it off instead of walking out of the venue.

12. Hamza Ali Abbasi dedicating his awards to innocent Kashmiris

Hamza isn’t only raising his voice for the rights of Kashmiris on social media but also showing it through his generous acts. The Mann Mayal actor dedicated his Most Stylish TV Actor award to all the innocent victims of Kashmir.

13. Mahira Khan’s mini meltdown

The leading lady got teary eyed while receiving her award for the Most Stylish Film Actress. She thanked the film and TV fraternity for their support in her emotional acceptance speech.

Despite being action-packed, the show lacked the presence of a major chunk of the entertainment industry, Fawad Khan, Ahmed Ali Butt, Fahad Mustafa, Mehwish Hayat, Javed Sheikh and Bushra Ansari to name a few.

All in all, Hum Style Awards clearly stood out among it's competitors and have definitely raised the bar for years to come.
