Privatisation not on the cards, says PIA chairman
Government would retain at least 51% shares of airline, in addition to retaining management control, says Azam Saigol

Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) chairman Azam Saigol has said that privatisation of the national flag carrier is not on the cards and “all rumours in this regard are totally baseless”, according to a statement released on Wednesday.
He said this while talking to Shamim Akmal, president CBA (Collective Bargaining Agent) union of PIA, who called on him and conveyed the apprehensions of PIA employees regarding reports of privatisation.

“As per decision of parliament taken earlier this year, the government of Pakistan would retain at least 51% shares of the airline, in addition to retaining the management control.”
Akmal extolled Saigol for the clear message, saying: “PIA employees are appreciative of his commitment towards the revival of PIA.”
