Cricketer says he has solely focused on his batting skills following a ban on bowling

Pakistan opening batsman Mohammad Hafeez has said that ever since a ban was placed on his bowling, he has solely focused on his batting skills, making sure he fulfills his responsibilities for the national side.

Hafeez, who was sidelined during Pakistan’s tour of England due to a knee injury, said that despite being unable to bowl since July 2015, he contributed positively to the team, Express News reported.

“After the ban on my bowling last year, I focused specifically on my batting,” he said. “And, as a batsman, I didn’t exhibit poor performance. I did justice towards my responsibilities to the team.”



The 36-year-old is hoping for a selection in the upcoming series against New Zealand and Australia. “It depends on the national selectors if they think my experience would benefit the national side in the upcoming away tours,” he said.

The batsman further said that he has requested the Pakistan Cricket Board for a biomechanics test to clear his bowling action.



“I was previously unable to give a bowling action test due to a knee problem,” he said. “However, I am 100% fit and ready for it now,” he added.

Hafeez was slapped with the ban after he failed a test carried out in Chennai, having been flagged in the Test series against Sri Lanka. He completed his one-year bowling ban during Pakistan’s historic victory against England at Lord’s.
