Karan Johar has been famous for his surprising confessions but his recent candid confession regarding how he once wanted to sabotage the leading lady of his film Anushka Sharma's career has left everyone in utter shock, Bombay Times reported.

"I wanted to completely murder Anushka's career. I tried my level best to do that," he said.

KJo revealed he tried to stop Aditya Chopra from signing Anushka for his film Rab Ne Bana Di Jori. "When Aditya Chopra showed me her image, I said, 'No no, you're mad or what? Why are you signing her? You're crazy! There's no need for you to sign this Anushka Sharma."

KJo said that he never wanted Sharma to play Taani's character in the film. "There was another lead actress at that time who I wanted Adi to sign. And I was totally behind-the-scene sabotaging Anushka completely. I was also watching Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi reluctantly," the filmmaker shared.

However, he was later taken aback by her incredible performance in the movie Band Baaja Baaraat.

"But when I saw Band Baaja Baaraat, I called her and I felt like I owed her an apology and a compliment. Apology because I felt so embarrassed that I would have ruined the draft of an exceptional talent. Compliment, because I thought she was amazing!" he said.

Anushka Sharma is the leading lady in KJo's upcoming film Ae Dil Hai Mushkil starring Fawad Khan, Ranbir Kapoor and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. The film is slated to release on October 28.
