YouTube video of the day: Hallelujah by Mehdi Maloof

Mehdi Maloof is a ridiculously talented and an emerging musician in the music scene of Karachi. Unlike many mainstream artistes here, Mehdi is very staid about his classical training as he gets his lessons from Aliya Rashid who is also a disciple of the legendary Ramakant Gundecha.

This is an aspiring rendition of Hallelujah originally sung by Leonard Cohen. The song has been overdone by many musicians around the world but this particular version is heart throbbing as it is fused with the quivering vocals of classical singing with the soul of contemporary pop music. Even though he forgets a line in the song and has to start over, it is never the less very engaging.

Video rating: Thumbs up!
