Pacer’s 11-wicket match haul guides UBL to simple win over Islamabad

Mir Hamza’s eleven-wicket haul guided UBL to a seven-wicket win over Islamabad on the third day of their fourth round fixture of the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy at the Diamond Ground in Islamabad yesterday.

UBl resumed their first innings on 270-6 and added 100 more to their total before being dismissed for 370.

Trailing by 95, Islamabad could only make 142 as Hamza claimed six wickets to give his side a simple 47-run target, which they reached in just 8.2 overs.

Meanwhile, Asad Ali starred with the ball in SNGPL’s 25-run victory over Karachi Whites. Chasing 246, Karachi Whites resumed their second innings on 35-1 but were dismissed for 220 as Ali took six wickets and Bilawal Bhatti claimed three.

At the Iqbal Stadium in Faisalabad, an unbeaten half-century by Saad Nasim helped Lahore Blues defeat HBL by six wickets. HBL resumed their second innings on 90-9 and took their score to 116 to set Lahore Blues 168 for victory. Nasim’s 53 not out helped them reach 169-4 with ease.

SNGPL fight back as bowlers dominate opening day



At the Arbab Niaz Stadium, Peshawar and Wapda are involved in a nail-biter that could go either way. WAPDA, chasing 223 runs for victory, were 72-4 at stumps, needing 151 more runs to win.

SSGC and Karachi Blues, meanwhile, are heading towards a draw as the departmental side’s 424 in the first innings was followed by the Karachi side scoring 185-2 by stumps.

In another match, PIA were dismissed for 276 by Rawalpindi, who at stumps were batting on 259-6 with a lead of 181 runs in their second innings.

Elsewhere, Lahore Whites scored 259 in their first innings, conceding a 93-run lead to KRL, who were 123-4 in their second innings.
