The announcement was made by Hazara University Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Muhammad Idrees while speaking at the annual convocation of Government Girls Postgraduate College Abbottabad on Sunday.
He stressed that in order to meet the future challenges of society, it was imperative that girls get higher education.
“Educating a girl means educating an entire family,” he said.
The VC stressed upon the girls to direct their energies towards seeking knowledge as they were equally responsible for helping the country and society in achieving the target of social and economic prosperity. He said that knowledge was the lost asset of Muslims that has, as a result, made the Muslim world subservient to others.
“We have to break the shackles of slavery by regaining our lost identity,” he said referring to the struggle of Muslim scientists.
Prof Dr Idrees said that knowledge and civilisation were intertwined and all the leading nations achieved prosperity through education but, unfortunately, Muslims have ignored this reality.
Later, he distributed degrees among successful students of BA, BSC, B- Honours among the 284 students of the college.
