LAHORE: Educational institutions can play a vital role in improving the soft image of the country and the Unique Drama Festival is a step towards this goal, this was said by veteran film artist Nisho Begum.

She was speaking as the chief guest at 'Awards Night’ for young student performers, at the ‘Unique Drama Festival’ organised by Unique Group of Institutions in collaboration with Human Rights and Minority Affairs Department.

“The youth is the harbinger of change and fine arts will help spread message of peace and tolerance in society,” she said. According to Unique Group of Institutions Chairman Abdul Manan Khurram, the festival is aimed at promoting interfaith harmony and tolerance and the idea has been taken well by the public.

He said it served as an outlet to people who had been deprived of such gatherings due to the law and order situation in the recent past.

“Co-curricular activities create confidence among students, and the drama festival would go a long way in overcoming extremist mind-set and enhance tolerance,” Khurram said.

“Through such initiatives, we wish to show to the world that Pakistan is a peace-loving nation and believes in basic human rights,” he added.

A panel of judges from the country’s film industry also distributed prizes among the students who received best actors and singers awards.
