Five-year-old Celtic fan apologises to club after missing match

He could not make it due to a friend’s birthday party

A five-year-old Celtic fan, Louis Kayes, called the Scottish club to tell them he was sorry he had not made it to Saturday’s game against Motherwell due to a friend’s birthday party.

According to the BBC, Kayes’ mother, Lisa, said that her son had borrowed her phone to make the call because he felt guilty about missing the game. “He [Kayes] was in the living room with my phone and then I heard the voicemail message from Celtic Park saying ‘thank you for calling’,” she said.

Lisa further said that her son wanted to speak to the club’s manager, Brendan Rodgers, and captain, Scott Brown, to apologise and explain his absence. “He wanted to let both of them know he’d missed it in case they were looking for him,” she said.

According to his mother, Kayes is very passionate about Celtic and he doesn’t like to miss any game.

“I think Celtic-Motherwell is the last home game he’ll miss in a while,” she said. “I don’t think we’ll be getting him to do many other things on a Saturday afternoon.”
