QUETTA: A complete shutter-down strike, called by traders against the gas and electricity crisis across Balochistan, is being observed in Quetta.

Traffic on the roads is lesser than normal, while all markets and bazaars are closed in the provincial capital.

Political parties including the Paktunkhwa Mili Awami party, the Awami National Party (ANP) and Jamiat-e-Ulema Islam (JUI) are supporting the strike as well.

The traders association has demanded a new transmission line from Chashma to Zhob in Balochsitan and has asked the government to ensure safety of gas pipelines as well as power pylons.

The main gas pipe line in Dera Murad Jamali had been blown up thrice in the past week, twice at the same spot.
