Younus joins Pakistan squad ahead of second Test

38-year-old missed out on the ongoing first Test due to health issues

LAHORE: Pakistan veteran batsman Younus Khan arrived in United Arab Emirates last night to join the national side prior to their second of the three-match Test series against the West Indies.

The 38-year-old missed out on the ongoing first Test between the two sides due to health issues.

The right-handed batsman had contracted dengue fever and required one additional week of rest, according to his doctors.



Previously, Younus, who is Pakistan’s highest run getter in the longest format of the game, was admitted to hospital on account of low platelets. He also missed the Test mace ceremony held at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on September 21.

21-year-old Babar Azam replaced the middle-order batsman in the first Test.



The second Test will be played from October 21 to 25 in Abu Dhabi, followed by another in Sharjah from October 30 to November 3.

Meanwhile, chief selector Inzamamul Haq announced the 15-member squad for the second Test after consultations with head coach Mickey Arthur and Test captain Misbahul Haq.
