Pakistan are currently playing the West Indies in Dubai in what is the national side’s 400th Test and Waqar used the occasion to announce the best eleven players he has seen represent the country in the five-day format.
Wicketkeeper-batsman Sarfraz Ahmed was the only player under the age of 30 selected in the high-quality side. Furthermore, the 29-year-old, alongside veteran right-handed batsman Younus Khan, was the one of two active players picked.

The former coach opted to select late Hanif Mohammad and Saeed Anwar at the top of the order, with Younus at three, followed by Javed Miandad, Inzamamul Haq, and Mohammad Yousuf.
Waqar also picked World Cup winning skipper Imran Khan as the team’s sole all-rounder, with Sarfraz lower in the batting order.

Waqar’s former teammates, Wasim Akram and Shoaib Akhtar, made up the fast-bowling combination, with leggie Abdul Qadir providing the spin option.
The most notable omissions from the side are of current Test captain Misbahul Haq and batsman Zaheer Abbas.
