Board chairman takes action against irresponsible workers

BAHAWALPUR: Five Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Bahawalpur officials have been suspended by the board’s chairman for carelessness towards first year intermediate results. The move comes after a large number of students staged protests against the board regarding irregularities of their examination results.

According to details, Bahawalpur BISE had announced the result earlier and certain irregularities were found. Some students were awarded more than the total marks, over which a large number of students from public and private institutions staged a protest against irresponsible behaviour of the board.

The board chairman suspended five of its board officials who were found responsible for the errors in the results. The officials include Computer Programmer Muhammad Ajmal Ameen, Computer Data Entry Operators Raheel Tahir, Shahzad Sabir and Intermediate Branch Clerks Adnan Khokar and Adnan Rao.

The chairman said they have established an inquiry committee to investigate the matter. “If any students want to have their exams rechecked then it can be done without any fee,” he said.

“We do not accept such result and we are gathered here to protest against the incompetence of paper checking officials which has put the future of thousands of students in jeopardy,” Student Akhtar Ali sa`id.

While, student Muhammad Usman said that it was their demand that all papers should be rechecked or their protest would continue.
