Taking the punitive action, the election supervisory body notified names of 22 Senators, 66 members of National Assembly, 137 of Punjab Assembly, 49 each of Sindh and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) and 13 of Balochistan Assembly who had not filed their asset details.
Prominent among those barred from work include Leader of Opposition in the National Assembly Khursheed Shah, cabinet members Saira Afzal Tarar, Tariq Fazal Chaudhry, Mir Ameenul Hasnaat and Abid Sher Ali.

Leader of Opposition in the Punjab Assembly Mian Mehmoodur Rasheed was among the 137 members of Punjab Assembly who had not submitted details of their assets.
Under the law, all members of parliament and the provincial assemblies must submit details of assets and liabilities owned by them, their spouses and dependent children by September 30 each year. the poll body can stop lawmakers from working upon their failure to comply with the legal provision.
The submission is a mandatory requirement under Section 42A of the Representation of the People’s Act 1976 and Section 25A of the Senate (Elections) Act 1975.
