KARACHI: It is a strange irony of life that on Valentine’s Day, Salmaan Taseer’s murderer, Mumtaz Qadri, was given numerous Valentine cards. More intriguing was the fact that these were brought by student admirers and apparently delivered, albeit unwillingly by prison guards, to the prisoner. Either these were the ultimate examples of killing with kindness, or the givers were perverts. Or else, it is the ultimate irony that on an occasion which our ‘ghairat brigade’ hates, persons who presumably hold similar values and mindsets used the day to express their affection and love on a person who is clearly incapable of either.
