LARKANA: Over 300,000 children under five years of age will be administered oral polio vaccines (OPV) during a four-day campaign commencing from October 24. In order to achieve this target, 756 mobile teams have been constituted in addition to 79 fixed outlets. This was stated by Larkana’s district health officer during a meeting of the district expanded programme on immunisation and polio eradication committee on Thursday, which was chaired by Larkana deputy commissioner Javed Ali Jagerani. On the occasion, Jagerani urged the officers of the health department, elected representatives, representatives of NGOs, teachers, scouts, students and social workers to play an active role in administering anti-polio drops to children during the campaign. He urged the health department officials to ensure that mobile teams visit remote and katcha areas and ensure that no child is left unvaccinated among the targeted age group.
