Spanish consulate official found dead in Islamabad

Police say death may be a case of suicide

A consular section staffer of the Spanish consulate was found dead in his Islamabad residence under suspicious circumstances on Thursday, Express News reported.

Juan José Giner was found inside the house in F-7/2 area with a 38 bore pistol recovered from near his body police said. Officials suspected that the death may be a case of suicide.

However, investigation has commenced on all possible aspects while a forensic team has also started working on the case. Police further said that the Spanish embassy has been informed of the incident.

Meanwhile, Spanish diplomatic sources said 60-year-old Giner had been residing in Pakistan for the last 34 years. The envoy was suffering from prolonged respiratory illness and lived alone after both of his wives left him.
