While complaints of misconduct are not rare on Indian airlines, a recent incident crossed all bounds of decency.

On an IndiGo flight from Bhubaneswar to Delhi, one man allegedly stripped himself in the lavatory of the aircraft and called for help from the female flight attendants. The man had earlier sought help from flight attendants to fasten his seat belt.

According to an official statement from the airline the man went to the lavatory and pressed the call bell for further assistance. When the flight attendant went there she found him in "an objectionable state", refused to go inside, and "politely requested him to maintain some level of decency."

While landing in Delhi, the man passed vulgar comments at the cabin crew, following which the crew alerted the captain who in turn informed airport security. The passenger was handed over to the police after the flight landed.

Further, the airline promised to address the situation. "Consequently the FIR was lodged in a local police station in Delhi. The matter is being investigated by the concerned authorities. Customer satisfaction is core to our business, however any untoward conduct, which compromises on the security of our crew and passengers is of a serious concern to us, and as a responsible corporate citizen we will take all necessary action to address this violation," the IndiGo statement said.
