You’d think Donald Trump’s leaked 2005 tape in which he brags about sexual assault would be enough for the Republican candidate’s camp to sit up and do some damage control. But instead, they picked a fight with Beyoncé of all people.

On Monday, after the second Trump-Hillary debate, Trump's adviser Betsy McCaughey blamed Trump’s lewd and highly inappropriate comments on world-renowned singer Beyoncé Knowles. Speaking to CNN’s Don Lemon, McCaughey said, “I abhor lewd and bawdy language. I don’t listen to rap music. I don’t like that kind of thing. It’s full of the f-word, the p-word, the b-word, the a-word.”

When Lemon pointed out that the rappers were not running for president, McCaughey said, “Hillary Clinton expresses that she finds the language on that bus horrific, but in fact she likes language like this: ‘I came to slay b****, when he f me good I take his a** to Red Lobster.'”

These are lyrics from the pop star Beyoncé’s song Formation. McCaughey argued that Clinton was hypocritical for criticising Trump’s predatory remarks because she ‘idolized’ and ‘imitated’ Beyoncé, who has used racy language in some of her songs.

Another Trump supporter, Scottie Nell Hughes, blamed his bus comments on sexually explicit books like Fifty Shades of Grey, and movies like “the vampire trilogy” and Magic Mike. “Unfortunately, we have made that to be sort of a part of the culture, a Fifty Shades of Grey culture in today’s society that men can talk like that,” Hughes told CNN’s Anderson Cooper. However, a little fact-check: Fifty Shades of Grey came out in 2011. Trump’s comments were made in 2005.

Prada | 7 years ago | Reply @Humza: There is a deep-rooted reason why Muslim nations are not compatible with democracy and empirical evidence is available in abundance to prove that point. (Malaysia does not consider itself an Islamic nation.) But the experiment goes on nonetheless to the detriment of the ideology.
Humza | 7 years ago | Reply @RF: Say what you will but at least in the US people will follow the democratic process even if all the politicians are lacking in substance and playing dirty. They understand the importance of having a system - even with less than ideal politicians. I have yet to see anyone in the US ask the army to step in or ask for some dictator to fix things. That's the difference between the Muslim world and the west.
