ISLAMABAD: Youm-e-Ashur will be observed on Wednesday across the country with due solemnity and religious fervour to pay homage to the sacrifices of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and his companions at Karbala.

Every year, this day is observed on 10th of Muharram to commemorate the supreme sacrifice rendered by Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and his 72 companions at Karbala to uphold the truth.

Taziya, Alam and Zuljanah processions will be taken out in all the major cities and towns across the country. During the day, religious clerics and scholars will shed light on the historical, social and religious aspects of the supreme sacrifice of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA).

At stalls, food, water, milk and sherbet will be distributed among the mourners in the processions.

Tight security arrangements have been made to maintain law and order across the country during Ashura.

All provincial governments have beefed up security for mourning processions and thousands of security personnel have been deployed to avoid any untoward incident.

Besides police force, law-enforcement agencies’ personnel will also be deployed to ensure peace and harmony. Pillion-riding is banned for the day while control rooms have been set up for strict monitoring of mourning processions.
