Development: 129 uplift projects under way

Out of the 129 development schemes, Rs1.13 billion will be spent on 53 development schemes

BAHAWALPUR: Work on 129 development schemes of the public health engineering department is being completed at a cost of Rs7 billion in three districts of Bahawalpur Division, said parliamentary secretary for trade and commerce Najeebuddin Awaisi. He was speaking at a meeting held at the Bahawalpur Commissioner Saqib Zafar’s office on Tuesday. Out of the 129 development schemes, Rs1.13 billion will be spent on 53 development schemes in Bahawalpur district, funds to the tune of Rs3.14 billion will be spent on 48 schemes in Bahawalnagar district while Rs3.23 billion will be spent in Rahim Yar Khan district. Saqib said the Punjab government had allocated billions of rupees to accelerate the pace of socio-economic development in South Punjab, he added.
