Danish Atlas reaches Tehran final
Three set win over Zaman seals progress.
KARACHI:
Pakistan’s Danish Atlas beat Waqar Mehboob 3-0 in the semi-final of the Fajr Squash Tournament 2011, a $5,000-event taking place in Iran.
The 17-year-old took just 40 minutes to beat compatriot despite Mehboob taking a 4-2 lead in the opening set. However, Atlas regained his focus and hit back to secure the first set 11-7. He managed to take the second set easily 11-3.
Mehboob fought back in the final set but Atlas sealed the victory 12-10 to book a place in the final where he will face Manzoor Zaman or Malaysia’s Muhammad Asyraf Azan today.
Earlier, he defeated another compatriot Saquib Yousaf 3-0 in the quarter-final.
