ISLAMABAD: Capital-based lawyers on Tuesday threatened to stage a
‘sit-in’ outside the courtroom of Islamabad High Court Chief Justice unless he tenders his resignation for making appointments which the Supreme Court had recently declared as illegal.

Over 100 lawyers in the capital gathered in the main hall of the district court bar association on Tuesday and passed a resolution demanding
IHC Chief Justice Muhammad Anwar Khan Kasi resign.

Mohammad Waqas Malik, general secretary of Islamabad High Court Bar Association, said that he would file a reference before the Supreme Judicial Council unless the IHC top judge resigns.

Malik added that from now on, general body meetings would be held outside the Justice Kasi’s court if he does not  resign within 15 days from date of the SC verdict.
